Learning More About Interscope Records, Inhaler and Their Musical Journey!

Hi all! I am glad to be back writing about yet another press conference I was lucky enough to attend with Universal Music Group’s 1824. This week I learned more about the band, Inhaler, an Interscope Records band. Inhaler is a band that I have not previously listened to which is an additional reason why I love attending these press conferences. I always enjoy the exposure to new music that may potentially become one of my next top favorites!

The members of the band include singer and guitarist Eli Hewson, bassist Robert Keating, guitarist Josh Jenkinson and drummer Ryan McMahon. They formed their band in Dublin when they were teenagers and recently debuted their first album It Won’t Always Be Like This. They are almost all set for a sold-out US tour, how exciting is that! I was eager to learn more about them and the meaning of the band’s work.

The press conference started out with the great initial question, “what is your inspiration for writing songs?” The response given from the band was simple, yet effective. They discussed how they are just pretty much spontaneous in the studio and there is not really a singular inspiration they look at when writing their music.

This lead to the next question of, “What sparks inspiration for each song?” They then continued explaining how there really was nothing in specific, which I thought was an interesting but accurate answer. Their songwriting, they explained, comes from listening to songs they love. They are obsessed with so many artists and do not want to be closed off from any genre which makes sense and is pretty cool they can be a band of many different sounds!

Their goal is to write great songs no matter what it sounds like. This mindset is quite powerful and inspiring because that is how it should be. Solely making music that you are happy with. Not fitting a form of what many people have to do.

Another good question from a great outlet that was asked to the members of Inhaler was, what it is like to be singing live after all the event cancellations because of the pandemic. They responded with it is tough getting back into it and not easy. They wrote wrote music all the time not leaving enough time physical activity either which can make performing live and in front of a crowd physically draining. This makes sense, but they will do great!

A great question was asked on what would be the best setting and mindset to listen to their new album. The answer to this would be in the car or where there are no distractions.

Industry Me then asked, “what is it that you want fans to take away from listening to album?” I particularly enjoyed this answer because many people are able to relate. They said a little bit of hope because they were in some dark times when recording because of the pandemic, etc. They are very excited to play live and want to make a joyful record to sound really good, something that has a lot of emotion.

8 Sky Magazine asked them what they are most looking forward to with touring internationally? The band then answered that they are very excited especially for the different types of food along with listening to music and experiencing different cultures. Inhaler expressed that they did a lot of touristy things the last time they were in the states, which is reasonable and makes sense to do.

Another outlet asked, “What did creating music during the pandemic teach you about creative process?” Inhaler responded explaining that there are no limits and they can do it on their own. I really liked this answer becausew it seemed like they grew as a whole band for the best. The pandemic was able to push them to write individually because they couldn’t be together. This resulted in about four times as much material and this really did benefit the band as a whole.

Unclear Magazine asked if the band grew up around similar music or different musical backgrounds? They answered and said they grew up with very different musical backgrounds and experiences. For example, they listened to music from oasis to branches rap to techno to joy division. A very interesting combination. This is good as they were exposed to many different types of music so their band can have many different sounds that they love. That’s amazing!

All in all, they are very proud of themselves for finishing their album. Of course we all are as well too! They explained how much hard work was put into this album which I definitely believe! They are also proud people enjoy the album that can be relatable for many and is something people can jam out to and resonate with.

“What are you most proud of as a band?” Another outlet asked. They responded with, “this album”. Which totally makes sense. They definitely should be! They described a time when they were all driving home after gig and they just turned to each other and was thinking how that it’s really nuts the opportunities they have been given. All the moments they have they are really proud of. The band is always focused on what to do next. When they do get the chance to think about all they have done and have that free time, they all explain how amazing it is and how proud they all are!

There were many more other great questions the boys of Inhaler answered, but these are some that stood out to me. I really enjoyed listening to their stories and how their band’s album came about. I recommend a listen to their debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This. If you have free time and are driving in your car also!

This was an amazing opportunity and I wish the best of luck to Dublin’s and Interscope Records band, Inhaler! They are doing very exciting things and getting ready for an amazing sold-out US tour!

Until next time fam!!

Peace! Andie 🙂
