Hey guys!
I know my first post was when I saw Shawn Mendes in 2016 at the MAC in West Long Branch, but I have seen him live so many times I just have to keep sharing my experiences.
This concert took place on August 17, 2017 at the Prudential Center in Newark. This concert was my most recent Shawn concert considering it was the last time he went one tour. WELL TECHNICALLY I saw him at Jingle Ball 2018 but it wasn’t a whole regular concert set, just a few songs which was still an awesome time still OBVIOUSLY.
Although I didn’t meet him at this concert, I did get to experience the Sliver Q&A VIP Package, which was still.. so… wow.. 😍 I still got to witness Shawn about 20 feet away from me during his q&a and soundcheck!
When one of my best friends and I got to the arena, we were sooo excited, as you could already imagine. We had to get there pretty early at around 3pm while the actual concert started at around 7pm ish. When we entered we scrambled in with all the other excited teens/pre-teens/young adults. We were all so eager for Shawn to talk one on one with us during the q&a…. HE CAME FROM BEHIND THE CURTAIN.. everyone cheering and super excited.
I had my question ready to go if he decided to pick on me… which he didn’t choose me but the girl in front of me who kept getting in my way… so if she wasn’t in my way he probs would’ve picked me… but i’m over it we won’t get into that 😂 jk all good bc she probably was really happy and made her whole year that he talked to her.
He answered so many questions so naturally we felt more connected to him and learned a lot more about him. Which was really exciting to experience before his private personal soundcheck. Felt a lot closer to him.
After the q&a had ended, and since we had the silver VIP package, we got first pick at the mercy booth. Personally, my friend and I were the very first ones in line to buy merch the whole night. so that was pretty cool. I remember I got a tour t-shirt which i wear often and usually to bed and i got a long sleeve shirt which i do cherish as well.
Next up on the list of super awesome things that day was the soundcheck. I was so pumped to hear his voice with a smaller crowd before the huge sold out concert actually began. His soundcheck was amazing and made me more excited for the concert.
CONCERT TIME!!!!!!!
I can’t even fathom to you enough on how excited I get before the start of the concert ahhh, its chill worthy. When the lights go out, the crowd roaring, the music that plays before concerts with everyone singing along, it’s just amazing, trust mee.
Charlie Puth was the opening act and I seriously love his opening acts. Charlie Puth is a NJ native and I am a big fan of his as well. He’s got so many good songs and I can’t wait for his third album to release too! My favorites of his include One Call Away and See You Again…. such classics but sOOoOo good. I would definitely see Charlie Puth again 100%.
SOOO after his set now the crowd waits with Patience waiting for Something Big (yes Shawn song pun intended) Shane was a big love for me and a lot others there and we are all so excited.
LIGHTS OUT. CROWD ROARS. SHAWN PEEPS OUT AND STARTS PLAYING THERES NOTHING HOLDING ME BACK. Which none of us were held back from screaming the lyrics and dancing along with him, let me tell ya. This was seriously such a great night.
My favorites of the night included Kid in Love, Theres Nothing Holding Me Back, Don’t Be a Fool, Life of The Party, and A Little Too Much. All so meaningful and full of jams. But for real this list is not limited I was very tempted to name the whole set list because I love all the songs so much. Heck…. let me name a few more faves 😉 So yeah more songs that he played was Patience, Bad Reputation, and Understand gets me every time too. He writes such personal and heartfelt songs with amazing catchy and vibey beats. I can listen to Shawn Mendes all day, every day, and still want more.
What a night, every song I was smiling. Every beat I was dancing. Such a great time and I am so excited for his upcoming tour that he’s just started overseas and in Europe. I am so excited and counting down the days for both upcoming shows that he is playing at the Prudential Center again this August 2019 🙂 Alessia Cara is his opening act for his next tour and that’s awesome because a little bit before he announced that I was JUST talking about how I wanted to see her live but she only had an upcoming tour in Canada…. little did I know I would get to see her live again (again bc she was at Jingle Ball 2018 also) and tour with my favorite artist of all time. I am so pumped and eager to feel this happy again!
