Shawn Mendes Gets His Spark Back! Boston & NYC

hiiii fam! I am SO pumped to be telling you about my experience seeing Shawn Mendes. I know if you know me, you know that Shawn Mendes has been my FAVORITEEEEE since Vine days. Shawn Mendes and Harry Styles are like home to me because of how long I have loved their music. Recently, I saw Shawn TWICE! hehe yes twice. I saw him in Boston at TD Garden and NYC at Forest Hills. I made it on to the big screen a couple times at the NYC show! The fire alarms went off in Boston LMAO. Also got to hold/high five his hand during both shows haha. So thankful and still reliving these amazing moments. Hopefully you enjoy my experiences too.

The Boston show was on September 25, 2025. This is the farthest I’ve traveled for a concert, thanks to family that travel there too. I was also going alone to this show. This show was all seated. Thankfully I had an extra ticket and sold it to someone else going alone so we instantly became friends there! (I have learned that SOO many people go solo to shows and I love that)

The NYC show was on October 3, 2025. This show, I thankfully had VIP GA. This show had seats but floor was all standing. I am blessed and got barricade! Ahhhh front row yay. I went completely alone to this show. I didn’t know anyone. I am so thankful I got early entry for this show. I got there early in the day to secure a good spot and made lots of new friends while waiting on the line 🙂 some of which had ALSO come solo. It was such a great time.

The setlist was pretty much the same for both shows.

Eddie Benjamin opened up for Shawn and he was SOO good both times! Despite him saying he didn’t feel good at the Boston show, he still rocked it. We even heard him soundchecking before the show. His song “Weatherman” was the only song I fully knew. But, while he was up there singing he piqued my interest on a lot of his songs so I will be listening to him more too. Actually, Eddie and Shawn just collabed on a new song together called, “Home”. It’s really good and vibey and wow they have great voices, they mesh well together too. So yeah, Eddie performed great during both shows.

While we wait for Shawn to come out on stage we all love the tracks he has on his pre-show playlist. The song right before he comes out sings “On The Road Again”. Which fits so well because his tour is Shawn On The Road Again Tour. :’) I am pumped.

Lights out, Shawn comes out, the camera shows him backstage and here we go! Everyone starts JUMPING to “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back”. Which is like a fav of mine so jumping to it was so much fun. Everyone high on energy, Shawn smiling so big along with us. 🙂 good times are happening.

He then sang “Wonder” which i have been waiting to hear live. I love that song SO MUCH. IT’s spectacular. And the beat drops and him dancing to it. AHH I loved it. We definitely made eye contact during this one in NYC.

He then sang, “Treat You Better”, “Monster” (no Justin Bieber did not come out either night I was there lmao), and “Lost in Japan”. “Lost in Japan” is always a jam and so catchy you always want to vibe to it.

Next part of the show he sang songs from his newest album Shawn (yay!). He started off this part of the show bringing out his band like during his “For Friends and Family Only” tour. They even had that on the curtain/screen behind them. They were all lined up next to each other having what looked like the greatest time ever. I wanted to join them up there, both shows haha. The first song they sang was “Isn’t That Enough” – love. Then, they sang, “Heavy”, which is one of my absolute if not, FAVORITE from the Shawn album. It is so good, catchy, and meaningful. Speaking of meaningful, “Heart Of Gold” was next. (we made long eye contact in Boston during this song) (I am for real okay) This song is so sweet and always gets the crowd emotional especially because of it’s meaning for his friend who passed away too. When I went to the “For Friends And Family Only” show in Brooklyn NYC last year, it was only a couple days after Liam Payne passed away so he dedicated the song to him to that night and now thats what I think of when I hear “Heart Of Gold” too. So sad, everyone tearing up. Love how special and close everyone feels though.

After these songs, he sang “Señorita”. Then… “Ruin”! So good. And Shawn says “you know it’s a good crowd when you get a louder cheer for “Ruin” than “Señorita”.” YAsssss Shawn of course it does. “Ruin” is so special. This is when he comes down and high fives the crowd and runs up to the golden ticket winner in front of barricade and in between stage to hug and say hi to Shawn personally. So special. One of my newer mutuals was the golden ticket winner for the Boston show and I am so happy for her! She is still on cloud 9 rightfully so because same I would be too. During the NYC show, my new friends and I were waving to him and we caught his attention and waved hi to us! Monumental moment right there.

After “Ruin”, he sang, “Never Be Alone” and “Mercy”. This setlist is WONDERful – see what I did there. It truly is so amazing though. “Never Be Alone” is so special to me. He made eye contact and smiled to me during this song in NYC ANDDD Boston :’) (i’m serious okay) I feel like that means something right? I have pics on my insta for reference hahha. Like both shows ahh. I love this song and it’s one of those that make me feel at home when I hear it live. So special. And “Mercy” well no one can beat the live version (and studio) version of this song’s bridge. It is SO good and Shawn’s voice is PHENOMENAL.

Next, he came to the front of the runway in Boston for these songs. In NYC, he went into the crowd all the way across the arena into seats for these next few songs. So special, someone I know was actually sitting by there too which was cool! He sang “Youth”, an empowering song that deserves more recognition. Then was “Stitches”, a classic. And then, “It’ll Be Okay”. I absolutely love “It’ll Be Okay”. It means so much to me it’s like Shawn is comforting me and hugging me when i hear him sing it. :’) so good. And we definitely locked eyes during this song too in Boston. He came down to barricade and HE HELD MY HAND. again. My Instagram for reference. like gripped my wrist for a second and looked back. What a wonderful time.

After this, another JUMPING song came on with HIGH energy. “If I Can’t Have You”. I was JUMPING to this song, especially in NYC. Such great energy with lots of smiles and jumping with Shawn. This is the kind of energy i LOVEEEE at concerts. Especially when everyone is matching the energy with us and Shawn and to songs I love too.

“Why Why Why” was next and lmao this song is always SO good. In Boston though, the fire alarms went off! What! He had indoor fireworks/sparks in his set so it most likely was that with the smoke. But it was going off everyone was confusing but still singing (confusedly, including Shawn). But Shawn was like, “well I am just going to keep singing until they tell me not too”. Genuinely he was just as confused and like “uhhh what do we do” as us. I consider it a bonding moment for us all tbh. Everything was okay.

I can’t believe these shows went so fast. The encore was next. Immediate core memories made. I hope he keeps, “In My Blood” as the finale forever. You understand I am sure. For both Boston and NYC he came down and got to hold his hand/high five him AGAIN! what a special moment. In Boston he stood up right in front of us too. Nothing beats the moment in the end of, “In My Blood” when the beat drops, he jumps off the stage, and the confetti blows EVERYWHERE! Best feeling of my life. SO euphoric. An insanely apparent core memory for me. And everyone around me giving the same energy as well. It is have to be there moment. I recommend it to anyone. I am so thankful for these times.

After the show, confetti piled on my belongings, everyone still high on life from the concert. Shawn knows how to preform and everyone who makes it possible does an incredible job. I am so thankful for my experiences and grateful I was able to be there and experience one of the best nights of my life so far. Such a blessing. Thank you so much for reading along, I don’t know if anyone gets to this point I just dump a bunch of words onto here, but if you did i hope reliving it with me made you smile. Go listen to some Shawn, attend a concert and we can chat it up. Best time ever. Thank you again and see you nect time!

Sincerely,

andie :)💛

Shawn Mendes is one of my number one favorite artists as many of you know and it was so endearing to see him get his spark back for performing. Core memories were made for me in NYC Forest Hills Stadium and Boston TD Garden!
