benson. Boone. Wow. If you know me, you know, I’ve been following benson for a while now and it is so crazy and so awesome how far he has gotten I recently went to two benson shows this past week one at Madison Square Garden and one at the Xfinity mobile Arena in Philadelphia. let me talk a little bit about them.
so the first one I went to was in Philly. My sister and I got VIP tickets and early entry thankfully. Got there a couple of hours before check-in and it’s so fun. Seeing everyone else there waiting online to see an artist that we really enjoy.
once happened and we were allowed to enter the venue we lined up and waited to be brought into the floor. The anticipation is so real, but I love it so much. My sister and I made a friend while we were waiting online that we ended up standing next to during the concert was so great. I love meeting people who go alone because again we’re all this together.
when we got to the floor, we were blessed with my barricade and at my desired spot in the pit! We had the perfect spot and it all happened in perfect timing. we were so excited!
once 8 PM rolled around, the opening act came on. Elliot James Reay. His music resembles the music of Elvis Presley. Definitely a lot of 50s vibes. But honestly, I loved it. He has a great voice and I really enjoyed his music. It was really fun. I really enjoyed when he sang a song without using his in-ears or metronome. he is definitely a unique act and I am so glad that benson brought him on tour with him because it is music. I wouldn’t normally listen to, but I’m so glad I heard live. He is really good and I’m so happy that he had this opportunity and I had the opportunity to witness this live right in front of me. Also his band mates had great energy too! Elliot is also British so that was fun to learn and hear. He is from Manchester, England!
after Elliot came on, the anticipation was so real I’m so excited and so happy that this is real life. Before benson came on, they of course, had fun tunes and videos that they put up on the screen like little graphics of benson and stuff. Along with a slide that says welcome to Philadelphia like a postcard so that was cool, and New York when we were at Madison Square Garden.
9 PM came about and a video begins playing on the screen same vibe and guy from his Mr. electric blue music video. So fun and funny. I really enjoyed the opening video but I won’t spoil it for you. After that, we had like a minute or two then showtime.
Then, LIGHTS OUT! woohoooo!
This this is the moment we’ve been waiting for it and I’m so excited even typing this because I remember that feeling of being up on the barricade, watching him come up through the stage from the bottom. he opened up with, “I wanna be the one you call”. Definitely a fun upbeat choice for the opening song!
The stage by the way is huge so he had a lot of running room. He says he doesn’t like running, but boy does he do a lot of running and walking on stage and flipping of course he didn’t do as many flips as he used to but honestly he does a lot of stuff so that’s great still. His vocals being, the greatest talent of them all of course.
He then sang from his new album, “Wanted Man”, “I’m Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else, and “Man In Me” – which is one of his favorites from his newest album, American Heart.
Next, he sand “Drunk In My Mind”. Which is one of his and my favorites of all time too. It’s so fun and his vocals go crazy of course no surprise there. I love that one part when he goes down and sings to someone in the crowd.
“Slow It Down” was next – absolutely love that song. Definitely a favorite of mine. He started that one off on the piano on the main stage. I love that song and it will never get old. “Be Someone” was next and honestly another one of my favs. It’s so upbeat and feel good i loveeeee it so much. I honestly love every song off of Fireworks & Rollerblades, honestly no skips from me at all.
After this is the one so many people were waiting for. He came out on his chandelier hanging from the top and sang “Mystical Magical”. Good stuff but i was nervous for him up there haha.
“Pretty Slowly” was the next song and i love this one. Not only because of his vocals and everyone’s energy. But also because it reminds me of a memory with my sister and I reacting to this song with our friends on YouTube and getting out of the car, linking arms, and skipping to it. :’) wholesome core memory for me.
“In The Stars” was right after. He played on the piano on the heart stage that rose. Of course a tear jerker for the crowd. Such a special song and so meaningful Benson explained.
After the emotions of that song, he drove the energy up again by singing a medley of three of his older songs that i LOVEEEEEE so much actually. “Let Me Go”, “There She Goes”, and “Sugar Sweet”. I absolutely went wild hearing these songs live again. “There She Goes” hits and goes hard everytime. The pit was JAMMING. We made eye contact during “Sugar Sweet” no big deal tho. hahha lmao.
He ran back up to the piano and sang his all time favorite song from the album, American Heart. “Take Me Home”. I love this song and extra bunch because my sister and I heard it live for the first time ever, unreleased, at a secret little 200 person show last year and i asked him what it was called at the end and he said, “Take Me Home”. So thankfully we had the opportunity to already know this song well and from that intimate show. I really love that song.
Energy was back of for “Young American Heart”. The confetti blew during this song and if you know me you know confetti is one of my FAVORITE parts of a concert especially near barricade 🥰 so grateful and blessed. It did scare me though i wasn’t expecting it hahaha.
The next song is i think my favorite off his new album, Young American Heart. The song “Mr. Electric Blue”. So upbeat and amazing. During this song the confetti went off too which if you know me you know confetti is one of my FAVORITES at a show. I love it so much i could dance and jam all day to it.
He then sang “Momma Song”, “Love Of Mine”. The “Reminds Me Of You” – I absolutely love this song and these songs too. Benson Boone is a no skip artist for me.
His encore came up and it was “Beautiful Things” and “Cry”.
Wow, what a show. Benson, once again, is a no skip song artist for me. He has incredible showmanship and is a very talented vocal artist. He found his calling and excels at everything he does. I am so proud of how far he has gotten. I remember seeing him in small venues and smaller performances just a couple of years ago. I am so grateful for my experiences and watching him flourish.
I also got to meet Elliot James Reay after the Philadelphia show and that was pretty cool too! Overall, amazing experiences both nights and I am thankful to be sharing this all with you. Thank you for reading along and I am already writing the next one, so see you soon!
