yallll hi this was an amazing concert. If you know me, you know i have been wanting to go to a Pentatonix show for YEARSSSSS. so this was full circle and so much fun.
they had their Christmas show at MSG and was SOLD OUT. so proud of them because as they should be sold out. what a way to get into the Christmas spirit. let’s get into it.
when we arrived we had a little time to spare so got a tshirt as i always do and a water. you probably didn’t need to know that but here we are lmao.
we headed to our seats and WOW we were pretty close. we were 3rd row on the side. how cool!! i was not expecting us to be that close because our seats were row 6 but it was actually the third row ! we were so so excited. i love concerts and the energy.
this was a fun concert because truly there were people of all ages. from youngins, to families, to elders, to teens, like everyone. it’s so awesome that music can bring everyone of different backgrounds and people together.
it was concert time! a nice picture of snow came on and we were excited for it to start. a countdown started and 3,2,1, lights out , here they come! it was fun because since we were on the side, while the countdown was going on we saw them standing there ready to go on the stage getting ready. so awesome.
they came on the stage and the crowd goes wild! they start singing “Carol Of The Bells” which is a way to start off the show strong because they sound so amazing and i love that song as they just use their voices.
they sang so many Christmas and holiday favorites. They got into “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” which is such a fun song that they sing too they make it their own.
some more favorites included “12 Days Of Christmas” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” such fun songs.
Pentatonix then brought out a wheel. From the wheel they sang first a mystery song as a “?” on the wheel. which is where they made up their own song on the spot using holiday words from the crowd. Scott sang about not eating yellow snow because it’s bad for your health hahah love him. They then sang “Jingle Bells” and then how cute Kristen’s 2.5 year old daughter came on stage and said “you ready” we went wild like yass. and then she spinned the wheel to “Grinch” and the crowd went wild again, was a crowd favorite for sure. They did so well i loved it.
they then got to singing “Mary Did You Know?” which is such a powerful song. It is really what got them started with all of this and their Christmas tour, they said. Mitch’s high note is what i had been waiting to hear in this song live and boy oh boy Mitch did NOT disappoint. How does a voice do that?? INCREDIBLE.
“What Christmas Means To Me” is also a really fun one got us up and dancing. It’s cool and interesting how some concerts are mostly sitting and a lot of the concerts i go to are all standing. It’s cool to see because it goes back to the different demographics and age ranges there.
there was a brief intermission and then continued with their arrangements. its so cute how they call it arrangements it sounds so fancy i love it haha.
They also sang a song from an original movie they are in!! Scott is also so funny the way he was explaining this, he’s such a fun guy i wanna be besties with all of them. Anyway, they sand “Meet Me Next Christmas” from the movie and it’s super catchy.
Right after, Scott did the fun thing with the crowd where we all put up our flashlights and sing along with his and his husband’s song. It was so beautiful seeing all the lights and hearing everyone’s voices, what a blessing like it was so cool to see and be there.
ALSOOO after, Kevin and Matt came on and played “Christmas Eve” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and wow. This is giving me chills thinking about it. They played on the drums and viola thingy (sorry if i am messing up the name) and of course using their voices too. but when i tell you this was one of the best parts of the show (and that’s saying a lot because i was in awe the WHOLE TIME) i mean it. They sounded so good, they were so into it, everyone’s energy was unmatched, and they were just as happy to be there on the stage as us. They sounded just like them just using them two themselves and i cannot fathom how well they did. it was SOOO cute because after they were so excited they just did that too. they shot up in excitement and hugged each other and they got a standing ovation from the crowd. It was something you had to be there to witness, the videos are great memories from that but wow. incredible and speechless honestly. they did so well. and i loved how proud of themselves they were just as we were with them, so good.
They also sang a song from Wicked, “What Is This Feeling?” so good.
There was a brief intermission and when they came back they was a “Let It Go” came which got everyone dancing to be on the jumbo tron – super cute and wholesome.
After this, is the song I have been wanting to hear live for SO LONG. They went over to the B-stage and began to sing, “Hallelujah”. Their version is so beautiful and so well sang even live. I was so ready for Mitch’s high notes and incredible sound. But Scott’s high notes towards the end BLEW ME AWAY too. i am still on cloud 9 from that performance. The way they all sing, “Hallelujah” is truly beautiful. I can rewatch the videos every time and still am in awe.
Like i wanna listen to them everyday live. This song is beautiful.
“White Winter Hymnal” was also a magnificent performance. They did the thing with the snaps and claps and pats and beats with their hands. i loved it. It was so awesome, i wanna try it makes me wanna do that too haha.
The rest of the show was so great and fun and i loved how close we were to the stage. i wanted to step on the stage and dance with them. its cool it felt like we were on the stage because we were able to look out into the crowd too. it was so cool.
They sang, “Evergreen”, such a beautiful song loved it. “That’s Christmas to me”, “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, “Kid On Christmas”, i love all of those so much, “Kid On Christmas” is such a fun song got us up and dancing too.
Their encore was already here aww. they came out and sang a mashup of, “Pure Imagination / Christmas Time”. Such a classic and a performance that got us SO into the Christmas Spirit. I loved it.
Their final song was “Joyful, Joyful”, and once again got us up onto our feet and so into the Christmas Spirit of course. Standing ovation when they were done. so many cheers and happiness in that room. a room full of love they even said. we were so excited and happy to be there. so much good energy in that room getting us so ready for the holiday season!
as they were leaving the stage they waved to us and said hi/bye on the side with a few others in the front. so cool.
this was an incredible concert. I have been wanting to attend their show for so long and I am so grateful i was able to be there, pure joy and happiness i wanna do something cool like that too haha.
thank you so much for reading along, if you have the chance to see Pentatonix live, they will change your life and perception of music for the better. i commented on their TikTok’s video of “Hallelujah” that “this live is probably life changing” and SOO many people commented back saying “it is” and “you feel it in your bones”, etc. and boy oh boy they were right. I am so happy to confirm that they are just as amazing and fun live too. I wanna be besties with them, i remember watching Superfruit on YouTube back in the day, full circle i am so proud of where they have come and it is so cool to see them thrive especially live like yas, so awesome. Again, thank you so much and i hope to write again soon, peace fam! Merry Christmas!
