hiiii everyone. so excited to be back with another concert blog. If you know me you know Shawn Mendes has been my absolute FAVORITE artist since Vine days. and this show was magical.
i made a similar post not too long ago from his Woodstock show but this was another level of amazing too.
He sang his whole album from top to bottom and i will once again say this is his best album yet. So deep and personal. Some emotional songs and so many songs that are catchy and upbeat and hitting ALL the right high notes. his voice and concerts are pure bliss and i am thankful i was able to be there.
doors opened at 7pm and the anticipation was SO real. when they opened that’s the fastest fast walk you’ll ever see me do inside a GA concert venue. we got in and AHHHHH SECOND ROW (SHOUTOUT TO ALEX ILY). so grateful. like basically barricade i was just behind someone’s shoulder. right in front of him too!
since there wasn’t an opener since this is just like a just him show, we were so excited for 8:30pm to roll around. 🙂
here we goooo 8:30pm rolled around and lights started to dim and the music track started to fade. out came the band and THEN OUT CAME SHAWN AHHHH.
crowd went wild. there were a couple thousand people there which is light work for him he is so used to tens of thousands of people. i am so proud of him for stepping back out on the stage. this was a big deal.
he started off singing “the grandfather of the album” he called it and CHILLS. so catchy you are in for a treat yall. “That’s The Dream” (i think this is the one he called the grandfather either this or the next but either way I LOVE)
Like i could write about every single song on the album i just don’t want to spoil it all you know?
i will say that “Heavy” was next and wow i love this song so much too. with the lights and everything production wise, go team, honestly. his voice fits so right with the lyrics and melody. its catchy and has the most awesome beat pauses.
after this song he said, “it feels so freeing to be on this stage and to just feel this loved”. oh i love that so much. he knows how loved he is because he is so honest and TALENTED. he is truly a special person inside and out.
it is so wild to think about how we look up to artists and actors for who they are even when we don’t know them personally. but through their music and art, that’s how we feel connected and the reason why we love them the way we do.
it is cool to think about honestly.
he DID sing some oldies which brought us back years and i loved it :’) he sang “Stitches” and the crowd was ROARING. since not everyone knows the words to his new album yet, the crowd was pumped to scream some Shawn lyrics for sure hehe.
Mike & Eddie came on the stage and surprised Shawn with a little speech. it was so cute. this was before they sang “Isn’t That Enough”. I am so blessed to even have a glimpse into their love and friendship for each other.
“Why Why Why” is another song we all know and love. wow the energy during this song was truly unmatched. Zubin was jammin on the guitar too all of his band is amazing and matched the energy i love it and wanted to be up there with them too.
he was so passionate about his performance and i just wanted to be included hahah. the happiness is infectious
He then sand “Hallelujah” on this wonderful instrument. honestly so beautiful i am excited to hear his version on the new Shawn album.
i really wanna write about all his new songs but i don’t wanna spoil it. but eeeek they were so good.
he sang “In My Blood” and “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” which the crowd once again ROARED it was a fun feeling hehe.
we made eye contact too many times. and he HOLDS IT YALL like pls let me feed into my delusions, it was for a good couples seconds at some points. 🤭
he sand “Nobody Knows” and after that song “Heart Of Gold” which got emotional for sure.
He dedicates “Heart Of Gold” to his late friend – i am so sorry i am unsure how to spell his name i tried searching – but it sounds like, Diomi. who unfortunately passed away when they were early teens and just so young. This was beautiful. He also dedicated this song tonight to Liam Payne. As a directioner, this one hit hard. What a beautiful and sweet tribute to an artist who was so loved and whose life was cut short due to failed support of the music industry.
Re-watching this part of my concert videos is making me sob. So upsetting, this song is beautiful and his tribute and the way he put his words to this circumstance was so sweet and gentle, thank you Shawn. “i just want to take a second to send so much love to him wherever he is up there, Liam we love you, and the world is crying for you brother and we’re all praying for your son and your family, and ah we miss you man. So this one’s for you tonight Liam from all of us”. with his hands reaching up and looking up towards the sky. We were all right there with him. 💛 no dry eye in the room. We all loved Liam and watching Shawn get teary eyed was so emotional too. This one really got to me. Directioner through and through and for life.
this concert was so good.
his words are so touching.
he is such a great performer. and a beautiful human soul inside and out.
He then sang “It’ll Be Okay” which i love too.
He actually came out for an encore at the end!! i loved it we were all chanting “encore encore encore encore” and he did. very grateful. was a great time.
“alright we can do one more” he says as he is holding his guitar. he closed the show out with “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” a classic and staple song of course too. the energy was amazing. once again i wanted to get up on stage and jam my lil heart out with him and his band too.
i am so excited for his tour if he chooses to do one. I am just excited for the next time i get to see him whenever that is. Hearing Shawn live will never get old. So many good songs. I think my favorites are “Heart Of Gold” and “Heavy” but idk bc i need to learn the words to all of them they are all so good i am so excited for November 15th. 🙂
thank you so much for reading along i hope you enjoyed as much as i did. Once again, check out my instagram @andieseyr for my concert post since i can’t add any here.
we also got to meet Mike after the show he was so nice (shoutout to Alex). Zubin and his other band mates were there too and later saw Shawn walking to his car he said hi to everyone!
Until next time, peace fam! ✌🏻
