Em Beihold – Her Incredible New Music and Thoughtful Music Industry Insight!

Hey all! What a warm welcome back during these cold winter days. Em is an emotionally transparent artist who we all know and love with her hit song, “Numb Little Bug”. She is such a successful young woman. She joined Lewis Capaldi on his tour for 15 cities and opened up for the Jonas Brothers in a stadium! She has her newest single that recently came out, “Maybe Life Is Good” on Friday February 9th, 2024! Along with her first headline tour, the “Maybe Life is Good Tour” at the end of February. I already love the title. She’s awesome!

To start off, Manny from Under The Radar asked, “My song is about your song “Rollercoasters Make Me Sad”, I just feel like it’s such a personal and vulnerable song, and I feel like it is deeper than any of the songs you have ever made before, I wanted to ask was that a hard song for you to write?” Such a valid question. Em responded by letting Manny and us know that, “No! It was actually one of the easier ones. I think at the time I was working a lot with a Duo named Dallas Caton and Alex Veltri and it was after, “Numb Little Bug”, and I was just talking about how I was so excited that “Numb Little Bug” was doing so well but literally the day it came out I was already bracing for the fall. Music is so riding the waves, you gotta have happiness that’s not dependent on those waves or else you’re going to be as up and down as your career is. So I think I was just talking about theme parks and how I don’t really like theme parks and I was like, “Rollercoasters make me sad”. I don’t even get scared I just get sad. And Alex was like, “That’s the title”. Then the rest just kind of flowed out kind of about theme parks truly because I don’t like theme parks but also, you know, connecting to the music industry, and my experience, and people’s attention on you, and it coming and going. That one was cathartic. Not every song is a fast one, but that one actually was because I think it was so like at the ‘tip of my tongue’ to say in some way.” That was such a detail and thoughtful answer she gave to Manny and us, I really appreciated her response with that. I absolutely love hearing the behind the scenes of songs and everything personal like that.

Another questions came from Daniela and Gitika from Out Jamz. She asked, “Apart from being an accomplished singer and songwriter, you also have an extensive background in classical and jazz piano. So we are curious to know how you incorporate aspects of your classical and jazz training into your songwriting and what your favorite song to play on piano was growing up?” This is such a fun question I didn’t know she was classically and jazz trained in piano, how cool! Em responded and said that she started writing because she got bored playing classical music. She didn’t want to follow the notes given, she wanted to make her own. “So I think that’s how that kind of started but I will say that there definitely is still some jazz influence subtly in like chord choices that I’ll make for songs. Definitely leans more pop obviously than jazz but like, I don’t know, I’ll put some sevenths in there and stuff. But my favorite song to play growing up, “Black Coffee”.” That is so interesting I don’t know much about Jazz but I would love to learn. And now I have to go back to her songs and find some jazz chords in there haha!!

We have some good questions here in this conference. This question is from Evan from MoveOnUp Music. He asked “What has been your favorite ‘I made it’ moment so far?” This is a dope question because she definitely totally HAS made it :’) She responded by saying, “I flew my parents out to come watch Jimmy Fallon and I think that day we were all like “what is going on?!” Because once you’re on that stage, it’s just like.. “whatt!?”. haha I feel like probably that. It just seemed too surreal to be true. And also them being there because they have been with me through this whole journey and all the highs and the lows and like my mom and I cried. That was a very special one. BUT a second close one would be opening for the Jonas Brothers in a stadium because that was also like, “Why am I in a stadium, that’s crazy”. Especially when you’re used to playing on TikTok live, you play a little song and then no one says anything and you say “cool” and you keep moving on. Versus actually being in a place of that size and meeting the Jonas Brothers. And realizing you’re the same height as them. That was awesome. A little surreal.” I absolutely LOVE these answers. This might have been my favorite of the day because of how incredible these feelings must have been, also I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS as you all know. :’)

Sky Hume from Sparky also asked if she could describe her music as a color palet or a pattern what would it be? Em said that if Olivia Rodrigo can claim purple she wants to claim light blue. SO VALID I’M HERE FOR IT. Light blue is my favorite color :’)!

The way Em answered her questions were so thoughtful and genuine. She is nice, talented, funny, has a sense of humor. She really has it all. I am so happy for her success and really wish her nothing but the best. I love how she said her favorite was Kevin. I am a Joe girl but I love how nice she said Kevin was, he deserves the credit ;). Her music is wonderful and her songwriting is out of this world. I recommend listening to her music if you haven’t because she is really a great artist. And when you mix a great person with great talent, that deserves success. She deserves it and I really like her as a person and getting to know her through this press conference. Thank you 1824!

Don’t forget to check out her newest single, “Maybe Life Is Good”. Along with her first headline tour, the “Maybe Life is Good Tour” at the end of February. So awesome. So exciting.

Thank you so much for reading along. I hope you enjoyed as much as I did. She is so thoughtful with her answers and was very insightful. She is so real from sharing how she had 100 sessions with nothing coming out of it, to her having stage fright, to sharing how specific she wants her lyrics and nailing her craft and wanting to be proud of her music, to wanting to release an album. I loved it, I love her music as well!

So until next time. Peace Fam! ✌️<3
