I am eager to tell you all about this press conference. The first question came from Glass Factory. They asked, “when did you decide to pick up music?” Sofia responded by explaining that she does not remember a moment in her life where she wasn’t thinking about music. It runs through her blood and it is always on her mind. Her mom always says that she sang before she talked and danced before she walked. She wrote her first song when she was 11 years old. She was always one for storytelling and song writing. Sofia explains how she loves and how amazing that the deepest and darkest and saddest moment in your life could make for a magical song where those moments are safe, songwriting is magical!

Veronica from Envi media asks, “in you music video for loud, there is a transformation from a cocoon to a butterfly, what does this represent to you?” Sofia said, “The butterfly represents a metaphor, the silent metaphors of generations who are louder than ever for change. The forefront of history and women who are amplifying their own and each other’s voices. The winds of change.” Sofia is truly inspiring. This metaphor is amazing.

Andie (love her name;) ) from Women That Rock asked Sofia, “what does being a global ambassador entail?” Sofia responds by explaining the power of music education. She says that she is honored, grateful, and emotional for what she gets to do. She absolutely loves co-sponsoring scholarships to help change the life of a Latin musicians who wouldn’t have had an opportunity to go to college. This will give them a 4 year college scholarship at Berklee. She always is doing the part to close the gender gap with her foundation. She strives to help young women who want to have a career in the industry. She says to always follow your dreams, she is very empowering!

Makailah from Dear Black Girl asked Sofia, “what is one thing that you learned during activism?” Sofia responds by explaining one thing confirmed is that a lesson her mom instilled in her. Her truth and the most important thing we can do with her life is to give. Uplifting girls in the world, she is so caring. Sofia says it is an honor in her career and in her life. “To give is to be LOUD“. Love that. So good.

Jamie from Starry constellation magazine asks Sofia who are some inspirational women that are “loud”?” Sofia says her mom, she says she always mentions her because she is an amazing woman. She was the voice who raised her to be loud and an example of who to be. She describes her mom as a fearless and loud woman. Some other examples of these women are Malala, Greta, Amanda foreman, Gloria Estefan etc. They all help change, one loud voice at a time and is constantly inspired by them. Well, I think we are all constantly inspired by Sofia as well!

Abigail from After Party NY asked how being a Latina woman shaped who she is. Sofia explains how she is lucky to be raised bi-culturally. She grew up watching film and tv in both languages. She was also able to travel to Columbia and here their new music and culture which is fascinating. Sofia said she grew up dancing both ballet and salsa, which is very cool! She has definitely swept a lot of people of their feet! Growing up Latina and like this, defined who she is as a person. She carries her sounds, music, and passions inside of her with everything she does. Her activism and upbringing needed permission to show the real her. Her passions really do shine through, which is absolutely amazing! Who she is as a person is so genuine.

Bella from Convo magazine asked, “what advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are trying to make it in the industry?” This is a great question. Sofia responded with, “You have to believe in your voice and you dream more than anyone in the world. You have to fight for it passionately and endlessly. Stay true to your heart with the stories you want to tell and enjoy every minute of the ride.” Her answer was absolutely beautiful.

Anna from Pop Apologist asked question regarding her growing up and working with Disney and being a role model to so many. “Which music and film artist did you look up to when you were younger? Who was your biggest influence?” Sofia responds by explaining how she is an old soul. She talked about how she would come home from school and watch Cher’s concerts. She also looked up to Barbra Streisand, Audrey Hepburn and examples from a young age also included Disney Channel of course. Trail Blazers, actors, professors, refined woman in the industry. Audrey Hepburn is her biggest inspiration, especially with everything she does with UNICEF activism, she is so dedicated to giving. I can see the resemblance!

Bailey from When I Make it to LA asked, “You’re a huge activist, can you describe your time working with UNICEF and human rights?” Sofia says it is the greatest honor of her life. I can believe that! Being a champion for rights for young children and woman. It is the biggest voice and biggest role she will play. UNICEF changed and saved lives with education. She fights for real intangible change with the United States. She spoke at the United Nations for UNICEF 75 years of work. Sofia is so grateful and passionate. This is amazing!

Casey from Finesse Media asked a question regarding how immersed she is in the Latino community. “Are there more influences in music in the future?” Sofia responds by saying, “Absolutely, I grew up framed as an artist.” She loves music written by the greatest Spanish bands of all time. She is inspired by the greatest Latin songwriters as well. Sofia says she is drawn to the rhythms and drums in Latin music. She talks about how this is really reflecting in her music and her art.
