HD4President Press Conference!

Hi all! I am returning with another 1824 press conference article. I was eager to attend and glad to have been invited. Today, I was invited to the press conference featuring Motown artist, HD4President. He comes from Baton Rouge and loves sharing his music from the world.

He became most known from his hit single, “Touch Down 2 Cause Hell (Bow Bow Bow)”, which had went viral on TikTok. His song was used by so many celebrities and artists such as Lizzo, City Girls, Coi Leray, and Latto. He has deep and meaningful lyrics to his songs but also has some fun, upbeat, and even pop songs as well. He has stated that he loves pop type of music too such as Maroon 5.

This press conference had some really great questions. The first question was, “How did you feel about your song going viral on TikTok? Was that a goal of yours, or did it come as a surprise? And if so, were you happy about it as it began to blow up on TikTok?” HD4President responded by saying it was a build up. He had a previous song called,“Can’t Stop Jiggin’ Remix” ft. Boosie Badazz, that went viral on TikTok. It had about 100k-200k videos using his sound. He then made another song, “Band Dance”, that got 30k videos using his sound on TikTok, and then made the song “Bow Bow Bow” which got about 150k videos on TikTok. When he came back with the fourth song, he told his manager before he recorded the song, “I heard the beat, I had the idea in my head, and I was riding in my truck and I said, ‘I got the song that’s finna blow us up'”. So, he went home and recorded it, put a snippet on Instagram and then it got taken to TikTok in which the next day it already had 5k videos in about five minutes. “It was crazy!” He knew it was going to blow up but he had no idea how well it was going to do. He seemed very eager and happy about this end result and where his song and music in general was going for sure!

The next question from the same outlet was, “Where do you see your music progressing to as you develop through your career?” He responds by saying that he is really into pop music. It is going to be hard to make the transition because when people meet you one way, they want you to stay that way. A lot of people don’t understand progression and being good at what you do, but I like doing all kinds of music. I don’t like seeing myself as a one-way artist.” This makes a lot of sense because of course branching out will be fun and exciting, he would also like to work with Ariana Grande, that is where he is trying to be! I like pop music too so I am down for this of course!!

HD4President was also asked by the same outlet, “which artist is your greatest inspiration?”HD4President responded and said, “All time, Jay Z, Juvenile. Lil Wayne, can’t forget about Lil Wayne.”

Someone asked, “What is the story behind your name?” HD4President responded by saying “The name, the million dollar question.” Very try because I think many people may have been curious about that too, including myself. He explained that when he was born in 1989, and around that time the movie The Color Purple came out. In which Oprah Winfrey was in. When he came home from the hospital, his aunt the gave him the nickname, “Carpal” from the movie. Then, “HD” came from his auntie’s nickname for him which was Hopdog. “In the early 2000s, Lil Wayne had a group called “Squad Up. On one of the songs Mack Maine said, ‘Mack Maine for president…’, so I just started saying ‘HD4President from there.” And from there, people would be putting it on tee-shirts and such. Then, 11 years ago, he dropped the album HD4President, and he just kept going from there.

All in all, this was an enjoyable press conference to have attended. His answers were well detailed and insightful. I like the story and where his name came from. It is meaningful and is a big part of his life, which is awesome to know too. It is cool to hear his backstory and where him and his name came from, in person. HD4President is a well rounded artist, with driven passion that you are able to notice, and a nice personality. He deserves all of his success and is just getting started. I recommend a listen or even creating some TikTok videos to his songs!

Until next time! Peace!
