Hi all! Back with another blog. Today I am going to be talking about the 1824 press conference I attended with Anson Seabra! To fill you in, Anson Seabra is a singer, songwriter, producer, and man who can play many instruments, based from Kansas City. He has been successful on TikTok where his song “Welcome to Wonderland” went viral and has had over 313k TikTok uses and 94 million streams on Spotify. Anson has even also performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show along with having his track featured on Grey’s Anatomy and entered number one on Billboard‘s Top TV Songs chart. He has has a lot of success SO FAR!

Anson has recently released his new EP Feeling For My Life. Anson portrays many of his songs in a relatable way. He brings attention to heartbreak, getting stuck in your head, and mental health. He even has just concluded a tour from September 14th to October 21st with Alec Benjamin! Anson is climbing his way up the music and social media world with a strong fanbase.

This press conference was full of insightful and interesting questions. Here are a few that stood out to me the most. The first question asked was regarding Anson growing up and what kind of music influenced his music style now and which artists inspire that. He replied to this great question by explaining he does have a whimsical style of writing and there is not one particular artist that influenced him the most. “The ruth B song ‘Lost Boy’ is a good example, it made me feel stunned and nostalgic.” Anson’s goal was that he wanted to recreated that, which was a big inspiration to song to ‘Welcome to Wonderland’. He did mention that Fun is his favorite band. Anson also mentions that Regina Spector has a more artsy and real narrative style of writing which he likes and admires as well. There are also some bands that inspire him too.
The next great question asked by an outlet was, “what movie would your songs would be in?” This was a great question. Anson said he has so many disney songs that he loved. “The harmonies in the movie Aladdin are so rich and lyrically so incredible, pure magic.” He further explains the gold standard of that movie. He believes his songs can be in anything dramatic. Anson’s song was just featured in a Grey’s Anatomy episode too! How cool is that!?
Bridge Music asked, “how do you think your career would be different if it wasn’t for tiktok?” Anson had already had small following that was over 100k youtube subscribes and about 1 million monthly listeners on spotify. So, with that being said he also said he thinks he would still be successful. I truly love that. Anson and myself of course thinks he would still be doing great. He has gotten lot of exposure he thanks to tiktok! Either way he definitely has the talents and the smarts to be where he is at today!
The next question that was asked was, “how has the transition been like from writing code to writing songs?” As a side note, Anson is an amazing intellectual and is soooo smart! I really enjoyed listening to him talk, very interesting things he would bring up. Anson explained that there are in fact some science based talents when crafting music. He said the transition was easy. From coding, there are some similarities such as the analytical aspects, melodies, etc. which you think about it. He gave the example of taking the same string of notes and shifting it over one beat to crest a new song. Anson also found a love for me Ed Sheeran and gave an example with his song. Switching melodies and strings of notes definitely includes analytics but in the long run it really comes down to whatever comes out on the piano. He loves just rolling with it. The analytical side of him still pulls on melodies and tweeks them. This is all just in the writing too, not production. Production can parallel coding because it happens on computers. However, he was already a musician when he started coding. So, the transition was easy for him, he explained.
Anson really did come off as smart and funny. I absolutely adore his songs and his LYRICAL MASTERPIECES! A question that made him think deep was when an outlet asked what his biggest muse in this craft was. Anson said it made him think. He then further explained that the first person that comes to mind is ed sheeran. “He is so good. And unbeatable.”
One of the next questions asked by an aweosme outlet was, “how has the pandemic affected your creative process as a musician?” Anson explained how it wasn’t a whole lot different for him. He said he was always a homebody. This resulted in him saying, it was “pretty much the same.” He said he would make music 5 hours a day. Then, once the pandemic hit, he did then same thing. At the time, Anson lived with parents still too. The pandemic however, made things alot easier for collaborations in the music industry, Anson explains. This is true who knows if these awesome 1824 press conferences would happen this often if it wasn’t for an increased number of video chatting because of the pandemic!
All in all, Anson Seabra has a great sense of music that is personal to him and his listeners. W shot a sneak peak of some of his songs and I GOT THE CHILLS. Not even kidding. He again, a lyrical GENIUS! I enjoyed the time to get to know him through this press conference. Anson is super personable, knowledgeable, and at one point everyone and all of us agreed that we felt like we were in therapy listening to him talk! With his wisdom and insightful words, it is apparent on why he is the great songwriter he is. I really do love his music and am definitely a big fan, and of his fun and awesome personality! I would like to recommend you all his music. He is a nice and genuine guy that deserves the even greater amount of success he is leading into!

Thank you for reading and experiencing this press conference with me. Thank you to Universal Music Group’s 1824 team for inviting me and I hope you enjoyed reading along! Until next time, peace fam!
