Hey all! I am excited to be writing about the LAVA/Republic Records sister trio, The Warning! I was fortunate enough to view this press conference from 1824, a Universal Music Group creative solutions team.
The Warning is an adrenaline filled rock-band made up of three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. Daniela “Dany” (guitar & lead vocals), Paulina “Pau” (drums, vocals, piano), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (bass, piano, backing vocals). They blew up online and have been dealing with great success since then.

They recently just released their single, “CHOKE” and have earned over 1 million views on the video so far! The Warning is set to release their EP Mayday on October 8th, very exciting! I actually really enjoyed listening to this song for the first time! The energy and production was just immaculate, might be one of my new faves!
The world needs a little bit more of rock these days, especially a girl rock band! This impressive trio have even opened up for legendary bands such as The Killers and Def Leppard, two sold out shows, wow awesome!
This press conference was filled with interesting and thought provoking questions so I will be sharing a few that stood out to me the most.
The first question came from Hannah aka The Barricade Babe. Her question to the three girls was regarding The Metallica Blacklist album and how they had their own cover and put their own spin onto it on YouTube back in 2014. Hannah asked them what the opportunity was like getting to do that and how it came about. They agreed that it was such a cool full circle event. When they got the news about this opportunity they said they were “absolutely floored”. It was such a meaningful song to them and the fact they got to do this was a dream come true all around! They said it felt weird to be working on it again, but making a new version of it since the 7 years ago when they did it the first time was so amazing. They thought it was such a cool project to have worked on and are so glad that it is out now.
Hannah from The Barricade Babe outlet also asked the girls if they are planning on moving to the US or are going to be based out of the US at any point or if they would rather stay in Mexico for now. She was wondering if there has been any talks of them moving. Their response included the statements that they actually have not discussed moving. They explained how they travel a lot between the US and Mexico but right now they are pretty happy in Mexico. I could understand that because I enjoy where I came from as well! I am sure they are still excited every time they come to visit the US of course! The girls talked about how they would immensely miss their food! Although, if they needed to move or had the opportunity for certain reasons to, they would definitely consider the US move.
Another great question was asked by Ariella in the chat of the conference so she got to ask them in person. Her question to the girls was she was listening while driving and noticed there are a lot of genres to rock and there was wondering what part of the rock genre do they take to the most because The Warning have put music out there in all avenues of it. This was a spectacular question that I was then curious to learn what it is as well. The girls responded and said that the style in which they fit the most in would be leaning towards hard rock/heavy rock. It is really hard for them to pinpoint at times though because rock is such a diverse genre were there is so much going on. There is such much feeling and energy added to it. But, they definitely would agree that hard rock/heavy rock is the most that they resonate with.
Ariella also asked the girls if their genre has been welcoming to them, which I thought was an outstanding question too. She explained the question stating because they are women and they are younger and feels like it may not always be the welcoming genre. With eagerness to answer and wide eyes they were all shaking their heads and saying how they definitely understand and get that. Because, unfortunately the world is tough with stigmas sometimes and we as women are trying to get out of that and become equal with everyone. they agree that it is not always the most welcoming but since they started when they were a lot younger they may not have noticed it that much. Since they are older now, they said it’s always harder for women to be in any type of media in general or in the workforce. But with the support of the three of them constantly, they can always rely on each other. What their music, she said they always try and change those stigmas or stereotypes that people have. They see it most when they are performing live. They say it is insane how different the staff and audience treat them before versus after they perform. They made a good point about this that it does feel very empowering that they can do that and have people respect them more. She said how it is cool it can lead to more open doors and opportunities for women wanting to play and do what they’re doing. They expressed how they let the music speak for itself too. Basically, they music connects everyone at the end of the day. Other women in the business along with The Warning would love to change this in the industry and love what everyone is doing to help. I really love that they have each other’s backs and can handle/take on anything that comes their way together!
At the end of the day, The Warning is a very nice and talented group of women with amazing charisma. These are some of the questions and answers that stood out to me the most. Their empowering messages and great music really do speak for itself. I really did enjoy getting to know this awesome band because I never have had the chance to learn about them. The questions and answers were so lovely. This was definitely one of my favorite press conferences and they are going to go on and do such great things! Side note, they seem very relatable and I think I would be great friends with them, just saying ha!!!
Don’t forget about their EP Mayday coming out on October 8th! Very eager for it!
Thank you for reading along with me and until next time! Peace fam!
