Learning more about Zoe Wees and her new EP Golden Wings!

Hey again! I am back with another post and I am excited about this one. iI was fortunate enough to attend an 1824 press conference with Capitol Records artist Zoe Wees, where I got to learn more about her, who she is, and where she came from. i am always fascinated by what inspires different artists. It is intriguing to know that everyone of all backgrounds can share the same or completely different inspirations for their music. She has a new EP Golden Wings that dives into anxiety, fighting insecurity, and finding acceptance that touches the hearts of many. I deeply enjoy what she writes about and her meaning for this EP and all the songs on it. She also talks about her difficulties with epilepsy. I was so excited to join this press conference because I love her song, “Control”! That is the first track that came to my mind when I heard about this opportunity, it’s such a great song!

Zoe Wees is only 19 years old. She is already doing big and great things. She is a German singer-songwriter who has a powerful personality and an incredible voice. Her lyrics have such deep and powerful meanings, which I love, and has caught the attention of many outlets including Genius, Wonderland, Teen Vogue, and many more! Zoe Wees is inspired by artists such as Lewis Capaldi and Miley Cyrus, both amazing artists that I love too!

The ball started rolling in this press conference with captivating questions. The first question was asked by a girl part of “Bellas in Tune”. Some female artists that inspire Zoe are Jessie J and Billie Eilish. She loves how Jessie J writes her own lyrics and it even feels like she has known her for years because of the personal messages within her songs. We love that.

Zoe then moved on to share advice for a young girl who wants to make it in music. Zoe explains to us that you should never be too hard on yourself and don’t doubt yourself. This is inspiring to me because she was explaining that you are perfect the way you are and do not need to be like anyone else. I really liked the words that Zoe gave the panel.

Next, the founder of Yiki Media asks how Zoe has grown her confidence throughout the years. She says that her music has helped a lot and she now loves when people look at her. She loves people around her telling her what she is doing is good because it motivates her to push herself harder.

The personal topic came up where Zoe talks about how her mother and great grandmother inspired her EP title. She feels less lonely with “Golden Wings”. Even though her great grandmother passed away, she makes her day better and makes her feel better if it is bad, which is so sweet.

Rozay from Hiphopindiemusic is another panellist who asked the question “how did your journey with music start?” She says she grew into it. Throughout her years in scool she worked on her voice and always wanted to become a singer. She got into music by herself until she reached the right people to bring her to the top. She wants to help make people stronger and finally go on tour too.

Hiphopindiemusic also asked Zoe to describe the music she typically creates. She creates dark and deep lyrics. Her lyrics are how she would normally talk to her friends and family. Her goal is to help people and make them feel less lonely as well.

The last question he asked Zoe was what her favorite line in a song was and why. Her favorite lyrics was the “Golden Wings” line because it actually helped her keep going. Her mother helped her keep going through the tough times especially with powerful lyrics like these. The song helped her accept the reality of her grandmother passing away.

She empowers all of us by wanting everyone to tell themselves they are beautiful. She is all about confidence and loving yourself. She explains it is hard at first because in your mind you could talk yourself down but it really feels great to love yourself.

Zoe also explains how her vulnerability is important within her songs. She is all about self-love and accepting yourself for who you are. I really enjoyed learning about how passionate she is to spread her positive message because I know this will help a lot of people, definitely including myself as well.

Zoe talks about how “Golden Wings” is just for her because everytime she is at her lowest she thinks about “Golden Wings” and it helps her feel stronger, the inspiration is important to her meaning. She calls her fans “Wings” because “Golden Wings” means strength to her and so do her fans. Her fans make her want to not give up and to keep going when she is not doing great. Which is why she calls her fans “Wings”. That makes sense and is absolutely so sweet that fans make her feel better when she is sad.

The approval from Jessie J impacted Zoe greatly. She was always all over her walls and grew up idolizing her. She loves that she can talk to her now because she has been an inspiration to Zoe for so long and helped her stay motivated with her career goals since she was little.

She says that writing songs is her therapy. Zoe’s new music is going to be real which I am so excited for. Her music is going to be so good and so personal. When she is in the studio she has so many topics to write about. It is really hard for her to deal with everything but when she gets them written down she feels so much better and even cries with her friends in the studio sometimes, that’s when you know it is personal and means so much to the songwriter.

Zoe loves what she is doing and loves her supporters. Because of this, she does not care what others think. She realized that she is going to pursue music for the rest of her life when she was young and this escalated especially when she went on her promo tour and livestream concerts. She realized this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life, which she loves, and so do we!

All the tour talk was so exciting! She has some special moments in her EP and talked about what “her strength and wings” are. Zoe explains what represents the most to her and this included her last song on the EP called, “Girls Like Us”. She had a special moment the first time she was in the writing session and thought about her community. She thought about what everyone else goes through too and can relate to her “Wings”. She even said maybe one day she will write about their difficulties too.

She writes to make people feel less lonely and loves when her fans react positively to her music. Zoe then talks about how excited she is to visit her fans all over. She is so eager to grow together with her “Wings” (fans) and to keeping seeing them every time she comes back. That is so true and exciting when you constantly visit new places but see familiar faces, (wow I rhymed, I should be a songwriter lmaoo). It really feels like you know each other at all of these shows. The intimate and personal feelings with artists and their fans are one of the best experiences to have especially at all these concerts and shows each time.

Zoe then switches gears to talk about her past and what she has gone though along with her writing style. She goes with the flow with her music style. Whatever comes out of her mouth is what she goes with, I respect that. Also, happy songs make her sad. I understand that too.

It is important to her to share her epilepsy struggles because that is her reality and wants to be as open as possible with her community. She was nervous to share her story because she struggled with her epilepsy. She wanted to write a song about it because the more honest you are, the better feedback you get from her “Wings” aka fans, and community. I love how much she shared about her vulnerability and struggles. That was the hardest time she ever had to go through while writing that song.

Her advice for people struggling with anxiety is that you are stronger than any anxiety attack you get. Every time she gets anxiety she keeps in mind that she is stronger than her anxiety.

She is so happy about her accomplishment thus far. She can’t wait to work harder and to travel around and meet people as well, us too!

This was such an exciting press conference and probably one of the most fun too! She is so full of great energy and has a sweet loving personality! I really got many laughs, smiles, and happiness listening to Zoe.
