Jason Mraz at Count Basie!

Hi there!

As you can tell by the title this post is about the two nights in a row I saw Jason Mraz. I have seen Jason about 4 or 5 times all together so I’ll have to share those other stories later on. Basically in this blog, I’ll share what it was like seeing him two nights in a row……. and then meeting him! I met all of them on the second night of the show.

The night of these concerts were on Tuesday and Wednesday November 27 and 28, 2018 at Count Basie Theatre. The first night it was my sister and I. It was on a weekday so yes I skipped a class (whoops). We got there early enough to grab a good parking spot. We walk in and find our seats. We were really high up which was cool becasue we could see everything!

The opening act came on and his name was Gregory Page and he also performed with Toca Rivers and Billy Galewood, more danced than sang ha! (who I had met also). All of the performers were great and were enjoyable! I was looking forward most to hearing Have It All, I’m Yours, Lucky, I Won’t Give Up, and Details in the Fabric, so like a third of the setlist pretty much, yeah. Jason Mraz is one of my favorite artists I listen to him a lot so this was really exciting! Him and all the others performing with him sang these funny songs also which I enjoy a good laugh. He means well and is a genuine guy!

Jason Mraz closed the show with his famous song Have It All, which was a perfect way to end the night(s). I enjoyed the show a lot and little did I know I’d be there the next day as well (because I only had tickets to the first show).

The next night rolled around and I reeeallllllyyy wanted to go so I could try and meet them after the concert. My sister didn’t want to go with me so I took my friend along and dragged her out in the cold to meet him ha! We got there as the last few songs were playing and just stood in the lobby area (acting natural ofc). So we got a glimpse of the actual show on the second night as well. After the concert was over, everyone started piling out and that’s when I made my way towards the doors. I met Billy Galewood becasue he was interviewing people which was really cool. He is not that famous but he was the other guy performing on stage with Jaso which was really cool. I got to interview with hm for like 10 seconds and then they closed up that area!

After that, we went outside and waited with like 15-20 other people to try and meet Jason! We were all so cold but in this together to get a picture with Jason, or Mr. A-Z himself. It was about 11 pm and i had to leave my house the next day at 7:15 am for school WHOOPS, (totally worth it though).

FINALLY, we heard people starting to gt louder because they saw Jason come out! He looked so happy and pleased there were people waiting for him. His security guard was a little pushy and rushing him, but he still managed to meet some people. When he go to me it was a friendly exchange of “Hi, how are you?” With a big smile on his face. After we got a picture he turned and looked at me to say “Thank You”. Like no, THANK YOU Jason. It was a great time. It was a great experience to have on a Wednesday night (almost Thursday lmao). He really is veryy nice and does not let fame get to his head, he is like your average human being with an amazing voice. Very talented. So yeah, I was supeerrr happy that I got to meet him after being a fan of his for years. I was excited to share my experience with everyone too!

Thanks y’all for reading this hope you enjoyed! 🙂 See ya on the next post
